New State Investment for Boat Launch in Wyalusing

HARRISBURG – Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23rd District) and Rep. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Sullivan/Susquehanna) today announced that the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) has awarded grant funding for a new boat launch in Creekside Park, Wyalusing Borough, Bradford County.

An investment of $80,000 will help the borough link natural resources to community revitalization and improve well-being for residents by increasing recreation opportunities.

“Fishing and boating are very popular activities throughout our region, attracting people from across the state and beyond,” Sen. Yaw said.  “This funding will provide additional access for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the great outdoors.  I congratulate all those who were involved in securing this funding.”

“I am continually impressed with the leaders and people of Wyalusing who go above and beyond in seeking to make improvements to their community,” said Rep. Pickett. “Wyalusing is a great community and an important tourism destination in Bradford County. Congratulations on this grant and I look forward to seeing the new boat launch in person.”

“Through our DCNR grant program, we are happy to be able to support a new access point for people to connect to their local waterway and have fun on the water,” DCNR Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn said.

The project will include the installation of the boat launch, pathways, parking area, and landscaping at Creekside Park along the Wyalusing Creek, which is a tributary to the Susquehanna River.

The source of funding for the grant is the Keystone Fund, which is currently celebrating 25 years of supporting thousands of community improvements in Pennsylvania.

In Pennsylvania, outdoor recreation such as boating and fishing generates $29.1 billion in consumer spending, $1.9 billion in state and local tax revenue and $8.6 billion in wages and salaries, and sustains 251,000 direct Pennsylvania jobs.
