Yaw Announces Availability of Property Tax/Rent Rebate Applications

HARRISBURG – Application forms for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program are now available for eligible state residents to begin claiming rebates on property taxes or rent paid in 2018, according to state Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23).

Applicants may obtain Property Tax/Rent Rebate claim forms (PA-1000) and related information at the Senator’s Williamsport District Office, 175 Pine Street, Suite 105, Williamsport, PA  17701, by calling 1-800-443-5772, or on the Department of Revenue’s website or by calling 1-888-222-9190.

The Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program is one of five programs supported by the Pennsylvania Lottery to help eligible senior citizens and disabled individuals with property tax and/or rent payments.

The rebate program benefits eligible Pennsylvanians age 65 and older; widows and widowers age 50 and older; and people with disabilities age 18 and older. The income limit is $35,000 a year for homeowners and $15,000 annually for renters, and half of Social Security income is excluded.

The maximum standard rebate is $650, but supplemental rebates for certain qualifying homeowners can boost rebates to $975. The Department of Revenue automatically calculates supplemental rebates for qualifying homeowners.

“For many seniors on fixed incomes, this rebate program can offer a significant refund,” Sen. Yaw said. “I strongly encourage those who feel they may be eligible for the program to contact my office for assistance.”
