Sen. Yaw Reappointed to PA Senate Committees

Will Continue to Serve as Vice Chairman of Agriculture & Rural Affairs

HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania Senate President Pro Tempore Joseph Scarnati (R-25) on Friday announced that state Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23) has been reappointed to serve on five (5) Senate Standing Committees for the 2019-2020 Legislative Session.

The announcement this week falls on the heels of a January 7th announcement naming Yaw as Chairman of the Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee, a post he has held since 2013.

Senator Yaw will continue to serve on the Senate Appropriations, Banking and Insurance, Judiciary and Law and Justice Committees. The Senator will also continue serving as Vice Chairman of the Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee.

“Each of these committees plays an instrumental role in vetting legislation that will benefit our citizens, particularly those living in the 23rd Senate District,” Yaw said.  “The committee process is extremely important for producing sound public policy, and I appreciate Sen. Scarnati’s support and confidence in me.  I look forward to working with my colleagues in the legislature this session.”

“Senate Committees are the cornerstone of the Senate and offer the springboard for legislation to be shaped and policies formed,” Sen. Scarnati said.  “These assignments provide a well thought out balance of members with diverse backgrounds and experience who will bring their unique perspectives to each committee.”

Additionally, Sen. Scarnati reappointed Sen. Yaw to serve on the Board of Directors for the Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport, as well as the Center for Rural Pennsylvania, a bipartisan, bicameral legislative research agency of the General Assembly.

Senator Yaw’s District (23rd District) includes all of Bradford, Lycoming, Sullivan and Union Counties, and a portion of Susquehanna County (Apolacon Twp., Bridgewater Twp., Choconut Twp., Dimock Twp., Forest Lake Twp., Franklin Twp., Friendsville Borough, Jessup Twp., Liberty Twp., Little Meadows Borough, Middletown Twp., Montrose Borough, Rush Twp. and Silver Lake Twp.)
