Senator Yaw Appointed Vice Chair of the Committee on Appropriations

HARRISBURG – State Sen. Gene Yaw, who represents the 23rd Senate District consisting of Bradford, Lycoming, Sullivan, Susquehanna and Union counties, was appointed last week as Vice Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee by President Pro Tempore Joseph Scarnati (R-25).

The Senate Appropriations Committee evaluates numerous Senate and House bills each legislative session and determines the cost and fiscal impact of the proposed measures. The committee is instrumental in considering the general operating budget bill and related legislation.

“It’s an honor to have been appointed Vice Chair of the Appropriations Committee, and I thank Senator Scarnati for entrusting me with this important responsibility,” said Sen. Yaw.  “I’m excited to have this opportunity and, I look forward to working with my colleagues to ensure that tax dollars are spent wisely.”

Senator Yaw previously served as Vice Chair of the Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee.  He will continue serving as a member of that committee.
