(HARRISBURG)  Several counties in the 23rd District will receive funding to continue promoting recycling in their respective counties, according to Sen. Gene Yaw, R-Loyalsock.

According to information received from the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Union County will receive $25,387.35, Sullivan County will receive $24,313.26 and Susquehanna County will receive $20,390.57.

Yaw said these amounts are reimbursements to the counties to assist in paying for their recycling programs.

"The Pennsylvania recycling program has been enormously successful," Yaw said.  "I am pleased that all of the counties in the 23rd District have done a great job at encouraging residents to recycle."

"Many of our communities are not mandated to recycle; however, because of the active promotion of recycling many groups and organizations and local governmental leaders have created successful recycling programs in their respective communities."
