Environmental Education Grants Announced by DEP

Senator Gene Yaw, R-Lycoming, has learned that three Environmental Educational Grants have been made recently by the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).

Yaw said these awards include:

  • $2,800 to the Lycoming County Conservation District.  The funds will be used to coordinate wetland workshops for elementary and secondary level teachers;
  • $6,426 to the East Lycoming School District to implement an environmental education course with a focus on sustainable energy sources and technologies and;
  • $3,750 to the SEDA-COG to be used to enable the Energy Resource Center to coordinate educational seminars as part of its Building Green and Energizing Our Region Seminar series.

The 23rd District lawmaker said if constituents would like to learn more about these programs, or other state-related programs they may contact his two district offices located in Williamsport at 322-6457 or 1-800-443-5772, or in  Towanda at 265-7448.
