Sen. Yaw Announces 'Truthland' Film Screening

HARRISBURG – State Senator Gene Yaw (R-Lycoming, Bradford, Sullivan, Susquehanna and Union counties) today announced that the film, ‘Truthland' - One Mother's Journey To Find The Truth, will be screened in the State Capitol Building on Wednesday.  The film is based on one woman's search to have her questions answered on natural gas development.

"The science teacher in me had questions, and I owed it to my family to go out and find out what was real," said Shelly Depue. To get our questions answered, I knew I needed to go where the experts were. And so, that's exactly what I did."

The 34 minute screening, open to all legislators and their staffs, will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at 1PM in room 60 East Wing.  The screening will be preceded by a brief reception with light refreshments and followed by an expert panel discussion to answer questions regarding the development of natural gas from shale resources.

The event panel will feature:

John Hanger, former DEP Secretary
Scott Roberts, former DEP official
Gary Swan, Pennsylvania Farm Bureau
Shelly Depue, Truthland
Jackie Root, National Association of Royalty Owners of Pennsylvania (NARO-PA)

Yaw said the screening will be an opportunity to gather additional facts with regards to responsible natural gas development in Pennsylvania.

A first-of-its-kind project of the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA) and Energy In Depth (EID), the costs associated with the production of the film were underwritten by industry – but none of the experts who appear in the movie (Shelly included) were paid for their participation.

Media is encouraged to attend these events.  For more information or to RSVP please contact Nick Troutman (Sen. Yaw's Office) at (717) 787-3280 or John Krohn (Energy In Depth) at (202) 309-1969.
