PENNVEST Approves Funding for the Tiadaghton Valley Municipal Authority

HARRISBURG – State Senator Gene Yaw (R-23) today announced that the Tiadaghton Valley Municipal Authority, a regional Authority that includes the Borough of Jersey Shore, and Porter and Nippenose Townships, will receive funding from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST).

As part of the current round of PENNVEST loan and grant initiatives, the Tiadaghton Valley Municipal Authority will receive a $14,146,008.00 low-interest loan and a $3,717,312.00 grant for costs associated with the construction of a 1.05 million gallon/per day wastewater treatment plant.  The project also includes 32,800 linear feet of a new gravity sanitary sewer collection system, 9,500 linear feet of sanitary sewer force mains, decommission of the Jersey Shore Borough wastewater treatment plant and construction of a sewage pumping station.

“Constructing a new wastewater treatment plant outside the floodplain in Nippenose Township will help the plant meet the more stringent nutrient discharge limits under the Chesapeake Bay Initiative and further it will address the 44 percent on-lot malfunction rate within the Village of Antes Fort,” Yaw said.  “This will certainly help improve the health and quality of life of local residents and the quality of our rivers and streams.”
