Local Organizations, Municipalities Receive State Grants

(WILLIAMSPORT)  A variety of grants have been announced by the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), according to Sen. Gene Yaw (R-Lycoming).

Late last year, several more federal stimulus grants were announced by DEP under the Green Energy Works! Program.  These funds were made available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

Susquehanna Health System received $1.5 million to assist in its ongoing efforts to increase energy efficiencies as part of its Project 2012.

Peter J. Klovekorn of CraftMasters will receive $1,358,868 to make optional use of the CraftMaster plant’s process steam for onsite power generation.

South Williamsport Borough, Lycoming County, is receiving $40,362.40 from the Flood Protection Grant Program.  The money will be used to replace the existing Eck’s Run sluice gate.

Kelly Township, Union County, will receive $125.25 under the Sewage Facilities Act 537 program.  The money will be used to reimburse a portion of the planning purposes.

Finally, the Pennsylvania Department of Education has awarded a grant to Sayre Borough, Bradford County, for interior maintenance at the Sayre Public Library.  The funds were made available from the Keystone Recreation Park and Conservation Fund.
