State LCB Prepares to Accept Grant Applications

(HARRISBURG) – Senator Gene Yaw, R-Lycoming, said the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) is accepting applications for its 2010/2011 Grant Program to Reduce Underage Drinking and Dangerous Drinking.

According to the PLCB, eligible applicants are colleges and universities, school districts, municipalities and community organizations (such as law enforcement and non-profit organizations).  Grants may be used to develop and/or maintain environmental management prevention strategies and other proven prevention strategies to reduce underage and dangerous drinking.

“This is a very competitive program,” Yaw said.  “I encourage those applicants interested in applying to read the guidelines, complete the application and submit it before the February 25th deadline.”

The application must be submitted electronically.  It can be found at the PLCB website www.lcb.state.pa.us under the tab Alcohol Education.  Yaw said the maximum grant amount is $15,000.

Yaw encourages individuals with additional questions to call the PLCB at 1-800-453-PLCB or send an e-mail to ra-lbeducation@state.pa.us.

The 23rd District Senator said his district offices in Williamsport and Towanda are available to assist constituents with questions regarding any state-related services available.
