Lycoming County Efforts to Update Solid Waste Plan Gets Boost from DEP

(HARRISBURG)  Senator Gene Yaw said that Lycoming County will receive a grant for $200,000 from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to update its solid waste management plan.

“I am pleased that Lycoming County has been awarded this DEP grant,” Yaw said.  “The county has been and remains a recognized leader across the state with its state-of-the-art landfill and the successful recycling program it has operated for many years.”

The grant will be used to reimburse up to 80 percent of the costs to revise the county’s solid waste management plan.

“As the county solicitor for many years, I have been actively involved with the ongoing operations of the landfill,” Yaw said.  “The County Commissioners both past and present have done an outstanding job developing and fostering the growth of the landfill and the recycling programs.”
