Lycoming County Awarded DEP Grant

HARRISBURG – Lycoming County will soon be the recipient of a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to aid in its recycling efforts, according to State Senator Gene Yaw (R-Lycoming).

The grant of $33,488.08 will be used to reimburse 50 percent of its county coordinator’s salary and expenses.

“Recycling coordinators are essential to the community recycling effort,” Yaw said. “In addition to coordinating the scheduling of the various mandatory and volunteering programs across their respective counties, these individuals reach out to the public with an educational focus on why recycling is important.”

The grant is being awarded under Act 101 of 1988, also known as the Municipal Waste Planning, Recycling and Waste Reduction Act.
