Senator Yaw, Senate Colleagues to Unveil Bi-Partisan Legislative Flood Relief Package

HARRISBURG – As a result of wide-spread devastation caused by Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee, state senators representing northeastern and central Pennsylvania will unveil a bi-partisan legislative package to assist with the continuing flood relief efforts, according to State Senator Gene Yaw (R-Lycoming).

On Monday, September 19, 2011 at 2PM in the State Capitol Media Center, Yaw will join Senator Lisa Baker (R-Wayne), Senator John Blake (D-Lackawanna), Senator John Gordner (R-Montour) and Senator John Yudichak (D-Luzerne) to announce the legislative components of the flood relief package.

“People in my district have lost their homes, their livelihoods and even a few have lost their lives, as a result of this catastrophic flood,” said Yaw. “This legislative package is a lifeline for those individuals, families, business owners and municipal governments who are in dire need of assistance. Even with the effective emergency response, the damage covered every corner of my district. There is no question that I, along with my Senate colleagues, will do all that we can to help those affected,” Yaw added.
