Public Hearing Scheduled to Discuss Marcellus Shale Development and the Impact on Housing in Pennsylvania

HARRISBURG – The Senate Urban Affairs and Housing Committee will hold a public hearing to discuss the impact Marcellus Shale development is having on housing across Pennsylvania, according to committee Chairman State Senator Gene Yaw (R-Bradford, Lycoming, Sullivan, Susquehanna and Union counties).

The hearing will take place on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 1:30PM at the Nittany Lion Inn, Faculty Staff Club Room, 200 West Park Avenue, State College, Pennsylvania 16803.

Among those invited to testify are: The Penn State Marcellus Center for Outreach & Research, The Center for the Study of Community & the Economy (at Lycoming College), Lycoming-Clinton Commission for Community Action (STEP), Inc., Wyoming County Housing and Redevelopment Authority, Housing and Redevelopment Authority of the County of Butler, Fayette County Community Action, Inc., Greene County Department of Economic Development, Indiana County Department of Human Services & Volunteer Center, Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) and the Housing Alliance of Pennsylvania.

Because of time constraints, there will not be an opportunity for a public comment period. However, written testimony will be accepted by the committee. The public can also submit comments at www.senatorgeneyaw.com following the hearing.
