Yaw Announces $1.2 Million for Senate District

HARRISBURG – State Senator Gene Yaw (R-23) today announced several Community Conservation Partnerships Program (CCPP) grants awarded throughout his Senatorial District.

The CCPP is administered by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) and includes the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund (Key 93), the Environmental Stewardship Fund and federal funding sources.

State Grants awarded in Yaw’s District include:

  • Bradford County – Bradford County, $58,000 for the development of Larnard-Hornbrook Park in Sheshequin Township.  Work will include installation of playground equipment with required safety surfacing; construction of a retaining wall; interpretive signage; ADA access, landscaping, project sign, and other related site improvements.
  • Lycoming County – Mifflin Township, $43,500 to further develop Mifflin Township Park.  Work will include the construction of a fishing pier, pedestrian walkway and parking; installation of play equipment with required safety surfacing; ADA access, landscaping, project sign and other related site improvements.
  • Union County – Lewisburg Area Recreation Authority, $488,000 to further develop the Buffalo Valley Rail Trail in East Buffalo Township and Lewisburg Borough.  Work will include construction of approximately 0.6 miles of trail from 12th Street in East Buffalo Township to 5th Street and Market Street in Lewisburg Borough, trailhead, preliminary engineering for a trail crossing at US Highway 15, ADA access, landscaping, project sign, and other related site improvements.
  • Union County – Union County, $26,000 to prepare a Greenway and Open Space Plan for the County.  Work will include a written report.

Statewide Partnership Projects also awarded in Yaw’s District include:

  • Endless Mountains Heritage Region, $192,000
  • Pennsylvania Route 6 Alliance, $183,500
  • SEDA Council of Governments, $270,000

“I am very pleased that these investments have been made in my senatorial district,” Yaw said. “This funding will assist with the completion of park and other land and water conservation projects. Even more importantly, these dollars will generate additional revenues through increased economic, tourism and recreational activities across our region.”
