Van Blarcom Nomination Hearing Set for Tuesday

Sen. Yaw to Make Formal Introduction

HARRISBURG – State Senator Gene Yaw (R-23), a member of the Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee, will participate Tuesday, June 10 at 12 PM in the nomination hearing for James A. Van Blarcom, Columbia Cross Roads, Bradford County, to fill a vacancy on the Pennsylvania Milk Marketing Board (MMB).  Van Blarcom is a self-employed dairy farmer nominated by Governor Tom Corbett to serve on the Board.

Senator Elder Vogel (R-47), chairman of the Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee will preside at the hearing.  Senator Yaw will offer a formal introduction and remarks.

The Pennsylvania Milk Marketing Board is an independent agency that establishes minimum milk prices, minimum wholesale prices and minimum retail prices.  The three-member Board is overseen by two farmer members and one consumer member.  If approved by the full state Senate, Van Blarcom will replace Richard Kriebel, a Columbia County dairy farmer and former board chairman.
