Sen. Yaw, Rep. Everett to Host Annual Senior Expo September 13

Senior Expo - 2013HARRISBURG – State Senator Gene Yaw (R-23) and State Representative Garth Everett (R-84) today reminded local seniors to attend their annual ‘Senior Expo’ this Tuesday, September 13th in Pennsdale, Lycoming County.

Beginning at 9:30AM, more than 60 exhibitors will be providing the most current information on state programs and services available to Pennsylvania’s older residents.

The free informational event will be held from 9:30AM to 1PM at the Pennsdale Civic Center, 261 Village Road.

According to the legislators, the event will provide seniors with a “one-stop resource” for information on a wide range of services available to them – many of which are free of charge or at a reduced cost.  In addition, representatives from state agencies will be on hand to discuss a number of government-related programs.

Other booths will be set up to provide seniors with information on health screenings, transportation and recreation opportunities, insurance, wills and estate planning, senior housing options, hunting and fishing and many other programs.

Yaw and Everett also encouraged area seniors to bring their unused and expired prescription medications to deposit in a Prescription Drug Take-Back Box, which will be located at the Lycoming County Sheriff’s Booth during the event.

All pharmaceutical drugs that are being disposed need to be in a sealed container such as the original bottle or a zip-lock bag.  Liquid pharmaceuticals should remain in the original container and personal information should be removed or blotted out with a permanent marker.

For more information on the event, call Rep. Everett’s Jersey Shore Office at (570) 398-4476.
