Sen. Yaw to Host Superintendents, School Officials for School Safety Roundtable Discussion

Listen

WILLIAMSPORT – State Senator Gene Yaw (R-23) will host a second Senate Majority Policy Committee roundtable discussion on school safety efforts and solutions next week with local school district superintendents and officials across Bradford, Sullivan and Susquehanna counties.

The committee, chaired by Senator David G. Argall (R-29), will convene the roundtable discussion on Wednesday, September 19 at 1 p.m. at the American Legion Post 42, 912 South Main Street in Towanda

“Enacting common sense legislation to protect students, teachers and school staff has been a priority for the legislature in recent months,” Yaw said. “During the September 19th roundtable in Bradford County, we hope to have a very robust, interactive conversation with local school superintendents, school officials and law enforcement personnel on how best to address challenges and implement solutions that can further safeguard everyone moving forward.”

“Rural schools face different challenges than urban schools when it comes to school safety,” Chairman Argall said. “This will be a unique opportunity for collaboration between policymakers, school district administrators, law enforcement and other local stakeholders.”

The roundtable discussion will feature a brief summary of recently passed legislation, proposals that are pending action in either the state House or state Senate, and a focus on new school safety solutions from local participants.

The public is invited to attend.
