Senate Environmental Committee Tours Green Line Polymers

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee visited a major in-state recycler of high density polyethylene (HDPE) materials on Wednesday, according to state Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23), Chairman of the Committee.

Located in Clarion County, Green Line Polymers is able to process very large quantities of HDPE plastic scrap allowing it to be recycled directly into piping and other environmentally-friendly products rather than a landfill.  Green Line Polymers is a subsidiary of Advanced Drainage Systems (ADS), the largest consumer of recycled HDPE in the United States.  ADS makes thermoplastic piping for commercial, residential, infrastructure and agricultural applications, with a focus on stormwater management.

“The visit to Green Line Polymers, an employer of over 120 dedicated staff managing post-consumer HDPE materials, was extremely educational,” Sen. Yaw said.  “This facility is pivotal to keeping millions of pounds of plastic out of our landfills.  It was a pleasure to see their operation, and hear about the recycling initiatives they perform.”
