Bill Sets Penalties for False Claim of Veteran Status

On March 3rd, the state Senate passed a bill intended to protect the integrity of the “veteran” driver’s license designation process.

Under Senate Bill 42 those who falsely claim to be a veteran on their Pennsylvania driver’s license application would be subject to a summary offense with a $300 fine and possible imprisonment of between 30 and 90 days for those who fail to pay the fine. A state law enacted in 2012 allows veterans to self-certify their status subject to verification by state military officials. Senate Bill 42 has moved to the House of Representatives for consideration.

City Project Celebrated

On March 13th, I joined state and local officials to dedicate the Memorial Homes Development project in the City of Williamsport. The 72-unit project includes 40 low-income apartments and 32 market-rate townhouses.  A portion of the project cost was paid for by natural gas impact fee funds imposed on Marcellus Shale drillers.

26th Annual Susquehanna County ‘Ag Days’

On March 6th, I visited the 26th Annual Susquehanna County Ag Day at Elk Lake High School.

The Day featured over 75 ag vendors, educational workshops, health organizations, lunch, pie baking contest, pie auction, and delicious dairy products including milk, cheese, and, of course... ice cream! I had the opportunity to talk with many in attendance and even met some dairy royalty!
