Click here to find the latest information on coronavirus from the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention UpdatesOrganizations interested in applying for conservation, recreation, trail, and riparian buffer grants through the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) may do so beginning January 18th, 2022. The Pennsylvania Homeowner Assistance Fund has launched to help homeowners facing COVID-related financial hardships. Applications will open on February 1st, 2022. Residents owning property along PPL’s right of way in Brady and Clinton Twps, Lycoming County, and Gregg Township, Union County, should expect work on a transmission line beginning February 4 and finishing in February 2023. PennDOT will sponsor a summer employment program for students who are registered as fulltime college students for the Fall 2022 semester. Deadline for receiving summer applications is Friday, February 18, 2022. Please contact my office for more information. Veto Override Necessary to Protect Pennsylvanians from Gov. Wolf’s Carbon Tax Pennsylvania State Grange Hosts Panel Discussion on Solar Development during the 2022 PA Farm ShowThis week, I participated in a discussion with the Pennsylvania State Grange on solar development in the state. The event provided information for landowners and addressed frequently asked questions from attendees. I was happy to sponsor congratulatory resolutions for Mollie Bomgardner, Mifflinburg, Union County, as well as Scott and Bonnie Wheeland, Cogan Station, Lycoming County. READ MORE Senate Accomplishments: Education Building on last year’s efforts, Senate Republicans will continue their work in 2022 to ensure students receive a proper education during the shifting elements of the pandemic. In 2021, the Senate acted to allocate $500 million in federal funds to help ensure schools reopened, sustained safe operation and addressed student needs resulting from the pandemic. For students who experienced learning loss, the Senate passed a new law allowing parents the option to have their child repeat a grade level during the 2021-22 school year due to COVID-19. Other legislation passed by the Senate eased school staffing shortages by making permanent a temporary program that gave schools an option to use teachers-in-training as substitutes and providing schools with more hiring flexibility for day-to-day substitutes.
