Yaw: Over $550,000 Awarded to Recreation Projects in Sullivan, Union Counties

HARRISBURG –State Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23) announced $569,800 has been awarded to recreation projects in Sullivan and Union counties through the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ (DCNR) Community Conservation Partnerships Program (C2P2).

“Investing in our local parks and recreation facilities enhances quality of life and strengthens our communities,” Yaw said. “These improvements will provide families and residents with safe, modern spaces to enjoy for years to come, and I’m pleased to have helped secure this funding.”

The following projects were awarded funding:

Sullivan County

Cherry Township – Cherry Township Park Development – $100,000

Eagles Mere Conservancy – Acquisition of 75 Acres – $221,900

Union County

Mifflinburg Borough – Mifflinburg Community Park Rehabilitation – $86,900

Union County Trail Authority – Buffalo Valley Rail Trail Development – $161,000

The C2P2 is funded with a variety of state and federal funding sources, including the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund (Key 93), which includes Key-Community and Key-Land Trust; the Environmental Stewardship Fund (ESF); the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF); Pennsylvania Trails Fund (PRT – federal source); Pennsylvania Heritage Area Program (HA); and the ATV Restricted Management Account Fund (ATV).
