Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee Holds First Committee Meeting for the 2013-14 Session, Approves Three Bills

HARRISBURG – The Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee, chaired by state Senator Gene Yaw (R-23), met today to consider three bills in the State Capitol Building.

Yaw opened the meeting and welcomed new and previous members of the Committee.

“I would like to welcome the new members of the committee and the old members that were here and served before, welcome back to this new legislative session,” Yaw said. “We hope to accomplish a lot with this committee and move important environmental matters forward this year.”

The committee approved the following bills during the meeting:

Senate Bill 164 (Yudichak) – Requires DEP to appoint a counsel to the Environmental Quality Board (EQB), who serves as an independent counsel.

Senate Bill 196 (White) – Amends the PA Infrastructure Investment Authority Act (PennVEST) to include “urban runoff” and providing for an annual report.

Senate Bill 259 (Yaw) – Requires gas companies to list all deductions on royalty check pay stubs.

The bills will now be referred to the full Senate for consideration.
