Yaw Announces Funding for Local Fire, Ambulance Services

HARRISBURG – State Senator Gene Yaw (R-Bradford, Lycoming, Sullivan, Susquehanna and Union counties) today announced that a number of volunteer and career fire, ambulance and rescue companies in the 23rd Senatorial District have been awarded state funding.

Yaw said 112 organizations in the 23rd Senatorial District will receive more than $1.4 million through the Pennsylvania State Fire Commissioner’s Office as part of the 2012-2013 Fire Company Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant Program (FCVASGP).

The FCVASGP can be used for facility repairs, equipment purchases, debt reduction and training.

“I applaud all of the organizations who have been awarded funding in my district,” Yaw said. “As noted by State Fire Commissioner Ed Mann, I also remind all of these organizations to file their final report accounting for the expenditures no later than September 3rd of 2013. “Organizations failing to file a final report will not be eligible for grant funding next year. Any organization who has questions or needs assistance may contact my office at 1-800-443-5772.”

Eligible volunteer fire companies can apply for grants of up to $15,000 and volunteer ambulance companies can apply for grants up to $10,000.
