Senator Yaw Publishes Changes to Child Protection Laws on Website

HARRISBURG – State Senator Gene Yaw (R-23) today published information to his website highlighting the new state requirements for child abuse clearances and the training opportunities available to both mandated and permissive reporters of child abuse.

Four fact sheets (as prepared by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services) speak in detail to the new clearance requirements for volunteers, employees and school employees both governed and not governed by the Public School Code.  This information and much more can also be found at:  www.KeepKidsSafe.pa.gov.

“The recent recommendations made by the Task Force on Child Protection helped us understand and enhance current state laws that will prevent and deter child abuse and neglect,” Yaw said.  “These new laws are swift and deliberate, and received broad bipartisan support from members of the General Assembly and the support from child advocates across our state.  I have no doubt they will better protect our children in Pennsylvania.”

The fact sheets can be downloaded from Senator Yaw’s website, www.SenatorGeneYaw.com.
