Pickett, Yaw Announce Recreational Improvement Grants for Bradford and Sullivan Counties

HARRISBURG – Rep. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Sullivan/Susquehanna) and Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23) today announced state grants totaling nearly $180,000 have been awarded for recreational improvement projects in Bradford and Sullivan counties.

“I am always pleased when state funding comes back to the 110th Legislative District that goes toward the enhancement of our quality of life,” said Pickett. “I look forward to the completion of these projects, which will benefit residents of all ages for years to come.”

“I am encouraged these applications from Bradford and Sullivan counties received funding,” Yaw added. “Safe and accessible recreation is important to residents in the Northern Tier. I look forward to seeing these projects come to fruition.”

The grant awards are as follows:

  • Dushore Borough – $70,000 for the rehabilitation and further development of Dushore Park, including construction of a parking area and pedestrian walkway, installation of playground equipment with required safety surfacing, ADA access, landscaping and other related site improvements.
  • Towanda Borough – $70,000 for the rehabilitation of the Bradford County YMCA, including the renovation of a gymnasium floor; ADA access and other related site improvements.
  • Sullivan County – $38,000 for the preparation a Comprehensive Recreation, Park and Greenways Plan for Sullivan County.

The funding was made available through the Community Conservation Partnerships Program, administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, which assists communities with the planning and development of public parks, recreation, conservation areas and facilities.
