Sen. Yaw: Global Pharmaceutical Supply Manufacturer Expands in Lycoming County, Brings Over 200 Jobs to the Williamsport Region and Chester County

WILLIAMSPORT — West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc. (West), a global leader in innovative, high-quality injectable solutions and services, will continue its expansion at its Jersey Shore and Williamsport facilities in Lycoming County, as well as continue its growth at the company’s headquarters in Exton, PA, according to state Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23).

West is expanding current operations at both their Jersey Shore and Williamsport sites, which is an investment to meet the growing demand in the healthcare market, including the increased demand driven by the COVID-19 pandemic. The project brings a capital investment of more than $18 million to Lycoming County and is expected to  create more than 100 additional jobs at the Jersey Shore site, along with an additional 29 high quality manufacturing jobs at its Williamsport facility.  This will add to the already 650 jobs it provides in Lycoming County, and over 1,200 jobs in Pennsylvania.

“This is an exciting announcement and powerful illustration of the opportunities and confidence that growing companies like West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc. have in Lycoming County and in our workforce,” Sen. Yaw said.  “I commend the Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce, the Governor’s Action Team, County Commissioners and all those who have partnered together to make this expansion possible.  I am excited to have the company grow their presence in our community and eager to support their success.”

“We appreciate West’s commitment to the Lycoming County community with this announcement of new jobs at both the Jersey Shore and Williamsport plants along with the expansion at Williamsport”, Jason Fink, President/CEO, Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce said.  “They are a quality employer and corporate citizen who we look forward to working in this next phase of their growth here in Lycoming County.  The Chamber appreciates the support that Lycoming County and the Commonwealth through the Governor’s Action Team has offered West in seeing this expansion occur here.”

Between both sites, West will add a variety of full time and family-sustaining career opportunities with these expansions, including machine operators, procurement and planning specialists, supervisors, engineers, maintenance technicians, and tooling specialists.
