Sen. Yaw, Rep. Hamm Senior Expo Draws Large Crowd to Montoursville

Free Health Screenings, Estate Planning and other Resources Offered to Area Residents

LYCOMING COUNTY- Area seniors packed into the Community Baptist Church on Thursday for a health fair sponsored by state Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23) and state Rep. Joe Hamm (R-84).

“The amount of information out there for our older residents can be overwhelming,” Sen. Yaw said.  “This free expo brought it all under one roof so our seniors and their caregivers could ask questions and get answers on the spot.”

Dozens of vendors shared information about health care, insurance, nutrition and exercise, financial planning, government services and more. Complimentary document shredding was provided by North Central Sight Services.  In addition, the Lycoming County Sheriff provided a prescription medicine return drop box for unused or expired medications.

This was the 13th year the senator has been holding this event, previously with retired state Rep. Garth Everett and now Rep. Hamm.  No event was held in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Yaw said he was very pleased with the turnout.

“Despite the early morning rain, the attendance was great,” Sen. Yaw added.  The event included a raffle, as well as donated baked goods and coffee offered by Camp Susque, a Christian summer youth camp in Trout Run, PA.

The legislators also thanked the Community Baptist Church for allowing them the opportunity to hold the event at that location.
