Senator Yaw Visits Jersey Shore Area High School

WILLIAMSPORT – State Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23) paid a visit to Jersey Shore Area High School on Friday, where he spoke with junior and senior high school students on issues affecting state government.

Senator Yaw was invited to the school as part of the Pennsylvania School Boards Association’s “Show Them What It Takes” student forum series. Students were given the opportunity to ask Senator Yaw questions about the 2021-2022 legislative session, bills he has sponsored, and current issues facing our state and our world.

“It was a pleasure sitting down to discuss the issue of school safety with the students, as well as the work I have done with the legislature and the Center for Rural Pennsylvania to curb the opioid epidemic in our state,” Sen. Yaw said. Students also engaged with Sen. Yaw, who chairs the Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee and serves on the Chesapeake Bay Commission, on the importance of clean water and making smart energy choices.

“The faculty, staff and students at Jersey Shore were extremely welcoming and showed a strong interest in state government,” Yaw added.
