Sen. Yaw: DEP Accepting Applications for County Recycling Coordinator Grants Beginning Jan. 2

HARRISBURG – State Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23) today announced the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) will be accepting applications beginning Jan. 2, 2023, for County Recycling Coordinator Grants under Section 903 of Act 101.

“This grant program is part of the Commonwealth’s overall effort to promote recycling and protect the integrity of our environment,” Yaw said. “The program enables counties to hire and retain recycling professionals who focus on environmental programs in local communities.”

Applications must be received by May 1, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. for the previous calendar year (Jan. 1, 2022 through Dec. 31, 2022) to be eligible for funding.

Counties are eligible for 50% reimbursement grants for the approved salary and expenses of employing a County Recycling Coordinator (CRC). Applicants must specify only one individual to perform the CRC position for the purpose of reimbursement under section 903 of Act 101. Two individuals – for example, a county employee and contractor or contractor’s employee – cannot share the same position concurrently.

Grant applications must be submitted online through the Commonwealth’s Electronic Single Application web site, eGrants, at www.esa.dced.state.pa.us.
