Sen. Yaw: PHMC Awards Cultural and Historical Support Grants

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC) has awarded $24,000 in Cultural and Historical Support Grants to six eligible museums and official county historical societies across the 23rd District, according to Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23).

“The 23rd Senatorial District is home to some great museums and historical societies, which exhibit the rich history that we have in North Central and Northeastern, Pennsylvania,” Sen. Yaw said. “The grants awarded will help these facilities continue the work they do preserving history and educating the public.”

The funding will help strengthen the region’s museum community by supporting the general operations of the museums and official county historical societies that are not supported by other state agency funding programs.

According to PHMC, grants are awarded on a formula based on a percentage of the organization’s annual operating budget. The maximum any museum could receive is $44,945. All official county historical societies receive a $4,000 minimum grant.
