Yaw, Pickett Announce Multimodal Funding for Sayre Borough

HARRISBURG – State. Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23) and State Rep. Tina Pickett (R-110) today announced a $508,080 state investment has been awarded to Sayre Borough through Pennsylvania’s Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA). The award was considered at today’s CFA Board Meeting and approved through the Authority’s Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF) Program.

“Maintaining and improving our roads, bridges and walkways is an essential component of ensuring the safety and mobility of the commuters and pedestrians who travel them each day,” Yaw said. “I was pleased to work with Rep. Pickett to support this significant investment in our local critical infrastructure.”

“This funding will go toward Phase III of Sayre’s streetscape project, which has been underway for several years now,” Pickett said. “The Senator and I continue to offer our strong support for these improvements, which will greatly enhance the business district and quality of life for all. We look forward to its successful completion.”

The funding awarded today will be used to support streetscape improvements in the Borough’s downtown business district. Plans include new curbing and sidewalks, as well as roadway paving on several streets within the Borough.

The Multimodal Transportation Fund provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of the Commonwealth. Funds may be used for the development, rehabilitation and enhancement of transportation assets to existing communities, streetscape, lighting, sidewalk enhancement, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets and transit-oriented development.
