HARRISBURG – State Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23) and State Rep. Clint Owlett (R-68) today announced $36,000 in funding to assist low-income individuals, combat food insecurity and improve distressed areas in Tioga County was awarded through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development’s (DCED) Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP).
“The Neighborhood Assistance Program allows businesses, communities and organizations to work together to revitalize our neighborhoods and improve access to job opportunities, quality education and affordable housing,” Yaw said. “I appreciate working with Rep. Owlett to support these worthy projects in Tioga County.”
“It’s always a good day when we have the opportunity to invest in our communities, and this funding supports two very important initiatives that improve both public safety and quality of life in our region,” Owlett said. “I was happy to work with Sen. Yaw to advocate for these projects and support the great work being done by Crary Hose Company and the Tioga County Homeless Initiative.”
Crary Hose Company was awarded $27,000 for the expansion of their fire training center to include fire simulation capabilities. Additionally, the Tioga County Homeless Initiative in Mansfield was awarded $9,000 to help address chronic homelessness in its service area.
The funding was part of over $71 million awarded to 443 statewide projects through NAP, which provides tax credits to businesses that contribute to nonprofit organizations’ efforts to revitalize communities. Through the NAP, businesses can receive tax credits of up to 95% on the contributions they make to a qualifying community project. Legislation to expand the NAP was sponsored by Yaw and State Sen. Nick Miller (D-14) and included in the 2024-25 state budget.
