HARRISBURG – State Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23) and State Rep. Tina Pickett (R-110) today announced $442,521 in state funding has been awarded to three community improvement and economic development projects in Bradford County. The awards were considered at today’s Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) meeting and approved through the Authority’s Local Share Account (LSA) statewide program.
“The awards announced today will be incredibly impactful for our communities by funding important equipment purchases and public safety improvements,” Yaw said. “Local governments often operate with tight budgets, and these investments will make a real difference. I’m thankful to Rep. Pickett for working with me to secure this funding.”
“These grants will be important for improving our community for future generations,” said Pickett. “This is a great opportunity for municipalities to get the equipment and services they need without placing a burden on local taxpayers.”
The following projects were awarded funding:
- Athens Township – Municipal Fleet Addition – $92,000
- Rome Township – Construction of Equipment Shed – $45,521
- Sayre Borough – Police Department Headquarters Expansion – $305,000
“The Borough Council and Mayor Henry Farley are sincerely appreciative of this grant funding for our Police Department,” said Dave Jarrett, Sayre Borough manager. “The grant funds will ensure that the Borough can move forward with the much-needed addition to the William J. Hickey Building which will enhance the safety of our 14 officers and improve the overall efficiency of the Police Department.”
Local Share Account funds are generated by the PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act (Act 71 of 2004), which provides for distributing gaming revenues through the CFA to support projects in the public interest within Pennsylvania.
