Surrounded by students, the governor toured the Energy Technology Education Center, which is a collaborative provider of hands-on training to emergency responders and to new and incumbent workers in the natural gas field.

March 11, 2014 - Today, the state FFA Association convened its 27th annual State Legislative Leadership Conference. Nearly 100 FFA chapters and over 400 local FFA members, as well as the state’s FFA officer team, participated. I was honored to welcome FFA students from my Senate District that included Athens High School, Canton High School, Troy High School all in Bradford County and Mifflinburg High School in Union County.

April 28, 2014 - Sen. Yaw joined the Pennsylvania Coal Alliance, Pennsylvania Economy League of Greater Pittsburgh, and members of the House and Senate Coal Caucuses for the unveiling of an updated economic impact study of the coal industry. The industry supports 36,000 jobs across all sectors of the Pennsylvania economy and contributes more than $4 billion per year to the state’s economy.

May 15, 2014 - Sen. Yaw participated in the Bridge Educational Foundation's scholarship announcement awarding $85,889 to local families through the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Scholarship Program. Associated Wholesalers, Inc., Chesapeake Energy and Waste Management donated the scholarships to benefit children attending: Epiphany Elementary School, Sayre (Bradford County), Endless Mountains Christian Academy, Tunkhannock (Wyoming County), Faith Mountain Christian Academy, New Milford (Susquehanna County), North Rome Christian School, Rome (Bradford County), St. Agnes Elementary School, Towanda (Bradford County).

May 15, 2014 - Sen. Yaw joined local, state and industry officials for the groundbreaking ceremony of the Panda Liberty Power Plant in Asylum Township, Bradford County. The Liberty Energy Center is the first power plant in Pennsylvania specifically developed to take advantage of its proximity to the Marcellus Shale gas formation.

May 22, 2014 - Sen. Yaw hosted his annual Student Government Seminar #YawSGS at the Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport. More than 300 participants, including students and advisors representing 17 high schools throughout Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania, took part in the full day event.

May 22, 2014 - The Peggy Madigan Memorial Leadership Scholarships, named in memory of the late wife of former state Senator Roger A. Madigan – were presented to high school seniors Caleb J. Maenza of North Rome Christian School and Jessica M. Stevens of Athens Area High School. Both students attended the Yaw Student Government Seminar and plan to enroll as full-time students at Penn College.

August 28, 2014 - Sen. Yaw joined employees from Lycoming Engines to celebrate their one millionth hour without a lost time injury. During the luncheon he also met Ellen Lord, President and CEO of Textron Systems Corporation. Lycoming Engines specializes in engineering, manufacture, service and support of piston aircraft engines. Based in Williamsport, Lycoming piston engines power more than half of the world's general aviation fleet - both rotary-wing and fixed-wing.

Yaw joined the SEDA-COG Housing Development Corporation (HDC) to break ground for the Grove Street Commons project, a 32-unit apartment building for the elderly on the eastern side of the City. The project is a key element of the Williamsport Housing Strategy, developed jointly by Williamsport’s Community Development Department and by the Lycoming County Planning & Community Development Department, and subsequently adopted by both the Lycoming County Commissioners and Williamsport City Council.
